What is an outdoor speaker system?
An outdoor speaker system uses special equipment designed specifically for outdoor use. This includes speakers that are waterproof and resistant to wind, sun, and dirt. Vineyard Home can create a speaker layout for you that provides coverage where you want it (by the pool, deck, fire pit, or patio) and not where you don’t (your neighbor’s yard).
Vineyard Home uses brands trusted by smart home installation companies, including Coastal Source, Triad, and Sonance.

What are the different kinds of speakers?
Some of the speakers used by home automation companies include:
- Full Range Speakers (Passive): Most traditional floor-standing or bookshelf speakers contain three or more speakers, each designed to reproduce a specific range of the sound spectrum from high-frequency (tweeter), mid-range, and bass (woofer). Brands offered by Vineyard Home include: Triad, Bowers & Wilkins, Monitor Audio, Sonance, Sonos, Leon, Coastal Source.
- Subwoofer (Active or Passive): A subwoofer is an additional speaker dedicated to reproducing the lowest-frequency audio bands, such as rumbling bass sounds in a movie or a bass guitar. A subwoofer allows you to feel the sound, providing a more robust, full-spectrum sound experience. Subwoofers are a crucial component of a home theater system. Brands offered by Vineyard Home Brands include: Triad, Bowers & Wilkins, Monitor Audio, Sonance, Sonos, Leon.
- In-wall/In-ceiling Speakers (Passive): These speakers are mounted in a frame and set into a wall or ceiling, allowing them to produce high-quality sound while hidden from view. Brands offered by Vineyard Home include: Triad, Bowers & Wilkins, Monitor Audio, Sonance, Sonos, Leon.
- Wireless Speakers (Active): These are portable speakers that often run on batteries and connect to devices via Bluetooth, allowing them to be moved easily to wherever they are needed to provide quality audio. Brands offered by Vineyard Home include: Sonos, Bowers & Wilkins.
- Smart Speakers (Active): Smart speakers are voice-controlled devices that combine the functionality of a traditional speaker with a virtual assistant, allowing users to play music, get information, control smart home devices, and more, all by using voice commands. Brands offered by Vineyard Home include: Sonos, Bowers & Wilkins.

What is an electric fireplace?
An electric fireplace is essentially an infrared quartz heater which mimics the look of a conventional fireplace using an LED light and a moving mirror element. Many electric fireplaces feature thermostats and remote controls for easy operation and heat regulation. Electric fireplaces do not require venting and stay cool to the touch.

-
Will a fireplace damage my TV, artwork, or wall finishes?
When the correct fireplace technology is chosen and installed correctly, then your wall finishes, artwork and electronics will be safe from heat damage. Vineyard Home will advise you on the best model to match your home. Many fireplace models use a gravity-fed technology to direct convective heat away from walls and any surface areas above the fireplace.
-
What is the difference between a direct vent and a ventless fireplace?
Although a modern gas fireplace doesn’t produce any smoke or odor, its flames do create emissions. A direct vent fireplace draws its air directly from outside and vents its emissions back outdoors using the same two-part vent pipe, keeping radiant heat in the room and the emissions outside. No chimney is required.
A ventless (unvented or vent-free) fireplace draws its air from inside the home and directs heat and emissions back into the room. Ventless indoor units are tuned to burn extra clean and have a built-in oxygen sensor that automatically shuts the unit off if the room’s oxygen level dips below safe levels. The advantage of a ventless fireplace is that home automation companies can install it anywhere in your home, including where a vent pipe might not fit.
-
Can a fireplace be used to heat a room?
Yes, a modern fireplace can be a reliable heat source for your home, filling your room with a mix of warm air and radiant heat.
-
What are the different types of fireplace installations?
Vineyard Home installs two types of natural gas and propane fireplaces.
- Fireplace Inserts – Designed to be installed within an existing masonry cavity or fireplace, these use the existing chimney to house the venting. Inserts are more efficient than a wood-burning fire with technology that eliminates unwanted drafts and heat loss.
- Built-in Fireplace – Installation of a fireplace where there isn’t one currently.
